Jack Kohoutek
He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a BS in EE in 2005. He spent the following year in graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania, and started at Northwestern in the Fall of 2007. His research interests lie in the area of single photon counting modules, optoelectronics, optics, and electromagnetics. He is also interested in engineering and math education. |

Ryan Gelfand
He studied physics at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. After graduating he worked as a chemist for Heinz and then Abbott Labs. He is interested in surface plasmons and opto-electronic devices. When not in the lab you can find him in the kitchen, on the soccer field, or at the symphony. |

Omer Gokalp Memis
He is from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, where he got his Bachelor's ('03) and Master's degrees ('05). He is currently working mainly on single photon detectors, with a side interest in novel optoelectronic designs for lasers and detectors. He enjoys taking photos, skiing, sweating in a squash court, watching movies and modding gadgets. He loves to chill on the Mediterennean. |

Wei Wu
He got his BS in Microelectronics from Peking University, China in 2006. His current research project is tunable quantum dot infrared detectors (T-QDIP) based on a novel nanolithography technique. His research interests include micro and nano-optoelectronic devices, nanotechnology (nanolithography, quantum dots, and quantum wells), photonic crystals, and nanoelectronic devices. In his spare time, he likes to play sports, listen to music and cook. |
